Alegrias Riojanas are a variety of chilli native to the autonomous community of La Rioja. They are used in different culinary preparations typical of Riojan cuisine. They are very spicy and red with a similar shape to the piquillo pepper but smaller.
They receive this name for the "joy" that they bring to the palate.
